Luo Jin had a joyful mood as he ran with Zhou Yan’s wrist in his hand.
After passing by several other students, who seemed to not notice them, Zhou Yan and Luo Jin were slightly out of breath when they finally came to a stop in front of a restaurant that wasn’t too far from the school.
Luo Jin continued holding Zhou Yan’s wrist as he walked inside and ordered a table for two.
Zhou Yan looked around the elegant and secluded pce. “Can you let go of me now?”
Luo Jin looked at the slender wrist in his hand and reluctantly let go of it.
The two quickly got seated and handed a menu.
Luo Jin smiled. “Order anything on the menu, my treat to an old friend.”
Zhou Yan paid no attention to Luo Jin’s words but still ordered something simple.
Seeing that Zhou Yan didn’t ordered more, Luo Jin was a little upset, but he quickly hid it. He gnced at the menu and pointed to a couple more items. “Xiao Yan, let’s try these together. I’ve heard that they’re very delicious and fragrant!”
Zhou Yan watched in silence as he order 4 more dishes. Once Luo Jin had finished ordering, it was silent until Zhou Yan questioned Luo Jin. “Why didn’t you let me get Zhou An?”
The system that was always watching Zhou Yan quietly was startled and hastily spoke up. [Host, how could you mention Zhou An in front of Luo Jin like this! You should be focusing on him as much as possible.]
Zhou Yan frowned a bit. It was a bit unusual for the system to be so talkative as it normally wouldn’t appear unless he called for it. It also kept wanting him to communicate more with Luo Jin.
“I just wanted us to be alone for now.” Luo Jin put on a heartbroken face. “Do you not want to?”
Although subtle, Zhou Yan could detect that Luo Jin was unhappy when he mentioned Zhou An. Why? From the plot, Luo Jin ended up with Zhou An, so the retionship between the two should already be good--maybe Luo Jin doesn’t like it when he mentions Zhou An. Zhou Yan couldn’t dwell on it any longer as the system started nervously advising him.
[Look, Host, Luo Jin’s practically giving you free affection points. At this pace, you might be able to go to the next world in a few weeks!]
[So why bother bringing up someone irrelevant right now? Host should seize the chance and promote the male lead’s feelings.]
Zhou Yan put away his thoughts--it was better to quickly finish this mission and move onto the next world then to linger on small details. In the end it’s the bigger picture that only matters.
Luo Jin held his chin as he looked at Zhou Yan who was slightly lost in thought. “I see that you’ve been wearing that hair clip all this time.”
Zhou Yan answered as he saw the meals were beginning to be served. “Mm, it’s a gift after all.”
Having the pale boy in front of him actively reply boosted Luo Jin’s mood. He saw that Zhou Yan simply ate a small bowl of scallion oil noodles and put more things into his bowl--refilling his half-eaten bowl. “Eat more, Xiao Yan.”
Seeing that the food was being piled into his bowl and that it was more than he would normally eat, Zhou Yan declined. He didn’t like overeating as it would hinder his movements too much in case there was an emergency.
Luo Jin didn’t mind and focused on his own meal.
The two quickly finished their lunch and returned to css.
As soon as he entered the cssroom, Zhou Yan was blocked and dragged away by Zhou An.
Luo Jin had a gloomy look as he looked at the pair as they walked out of the cssroom.
Leading Zhou Yan to a secluded area, Zhou An anxiously questioned him. “Brother, where did you go? I couldn’t find you in the canteen.”
Zhou Yan looked down at the girl who closely resembled himself and unknowingly answered in a gentler tone. “Luo Jin took me out to eat near-by.”
Hearing the gentle tone in his voice, Zhou An became panicked. She begged Zhou Yan, “Brother, can you not be alone with Luo Jin?” Zhou An had her back to the open and didn’t notice Luo Jin who was quietly approaching.
“Is Xiao An jealous?”
Zhou An’s body stiffened, but she quickly returned to normal and turned around. With a slight pout she replied, “Of course, I also want to talk more with Brother Luo.”
Luo Jin let out a chuckle. “Let’s hang out together next time. It’s almost time for css to start.”
Zhou An hooked her arm around Zhou Yan’s arm and replied while avoiding Luo Jin’s face. “We’ll go ahead first, Brother Luo.” Her voice had a slight tremor in it.
When they entered, everyone in the css looked like puppets as they were all looking straight ahead.
Zhou An froze for only a second before quickly making her way to her seat while Zhou Yan slowly made his way to his with Luo Jin following.
The teacher came and css resumed. A light drizzle began and soon turned into a heavy downpour.
Zhou Yan listened as the water droplets struck the window with force like a child having a temper tantrum.
Heavy rain continued even after csses were over.
As soon as the school bell chimed, everyone quickly shuffled out and soon, Zhou Yan, Zhou An and Luo Jin were the only ones left in the cssroom. They walked down the stairs in silence and arrived at the front entrance.
Zhou Yan saw that the rain wouldn’t die down any time soon and looked back at the two people behind him. “Did you bring an umbrel?”
Zhou An and Luo Jin spoke at the same time.
“I didn’t bring one, Brother.”
“I didn’t bring one, Xiao Yan.”
Zhou An gnced at Luo Jin but found that he was smiling at her and quickly turned away.
Zhou Yan opened his backpack and brought out two umbrels. “I only brought two.”
Zhou An quickly spoke up first. “Brother, we can share an umbrel and Brother Luo can have the extra one.”
Zhou Yan had no opinion and handed the second umbrel to Luo Jin. He opened up the umbrel and waited for Zhou An.
However, Luo Jin walked towards Zhou An and handed her the umbrel. “Xiao An can have the extra umbrel and Xiao Yan can share with me instead.”
Zhou An shook her head as she pushed the umbrel back with both hands. “Brother Luo, you should take the umbrel. ”
With a slight shake of his head, Luo Jin grabbed Zhou An’s wrist and pced the umbrel into the palm of her hand. “It wouldn’t be very gentlemanly of me to keep a whole umbrel to myself.”
Although it didn’t look like it, when Luo Jin grabbed her wrist, Zhou An tried to shake him off. She could only watch as Luo Jin walked past her to stand under the umbrel with Zhou Yan.
Luo Jin took the umbrel handle from Zhou Yan. “Let’s go, Xiao Yan.”
Zhou An tightened her grip on the umbrel and quickly opened it up when Luo Jin and Zhou Yan looked at her.
The three hurriedly made their way through the storm. As they walked in the heavy rain, a gust of wind would occasionally blow past them and soak their clothes.
Having arrived in front of his home, Zhou Yan quickly opened the door and rushed inside with Luo Jin and Zhou An. He shook off the water on his body and ringed out the water in his clothes.
Lou Jin and Zhou An also shook off the water on their bodies.
Mother Zhou came out from the kitchen and saw that they were soaking wet. She let out a gasp. “Let me get you kids a towel.” Mother Zhou quickly put down her bowl of fruit and ran upstairs to grab some towels. Handing out the towels, she worriedly spoke to everyone. “Go upstairs quickly and take a hot shower before you get sick.”
Zhou Yan wiped away the water that was dripping from his hair as he made his way to the bathroom in his room. He grabbed a random pair of clothes and quickly rinsed himself with warm water.
Although he had taken a shower as soon as he came home, Zhou Yan could feel his body becoming abnormally hot.
He didn’t think that a simple rainstorm could cause him to fall ill as he felt no signs of sickness or weakness that was stated in the plot he’d received from the system, but without anything else to go off of, Zhou Yan could only attribute the fever to the downpour.
Zhou Yan looked in the mirror. Without the support of the hair clip, his bangs hung down and covered half of his face. He raked his bangs back to get a better view of his face.
Although feverish, Zhou Yan’s face didn’t show it too much, only showing a pinkish hue on his face as if he’d just gotten out of the shower.
He put on an extra yer of clothing and headed downstairs.
Luo Jin, already seated at the dining table, was wearing a new set of clothes.
Without Mother Zhou’s intervention, Zhou Yan sat opposite to Luo Jin.
Zhou An finally came down and saw that Luo Jin and Zhou Yan were sitting opposite to each other. She happily sat next to Zhou Yan.
Seeing that Zhou Yan’s face was slightly flushed, Zhou An came closer to him. “Brother are you okay?” She raised her hand towards his forehead.
“I’m fine.” Zhou Yan pushed her hand down.
Zhou An wasn’t convinced. “If you’re fine, then let me check your temperature.”
Zhou Yan saw that Zhou An wasn’t going to back down and had no choice but to let her feel his temperature.
Pcing a hand on Zhou Yan’s forehead, Zhou An let out an excmation. “Brother, you’re burning up!” She pulled Zhou Yan up from the chair and dragged him back to his room.
Zhou Yan staggered as he was being pulled. It was the first time he experienced being sick since binding with the system, and he didn’t like the sluggish feeling that it brought with it. Soon, Zhou Yan found himself leaning against the headboard of his bed.
Just before Zhou An left his room she said, “I’ll get you something to eat.”
After waiting for a bit, Zhou Yan saw Mother Zhou instead of Zhou An coming in.
Mother Zhou was carrying a bowl of ginger congee. She sat by the bed and brushed away a strand of hair on Zhou Yan’s forehead--her face distressed. “Xiao Jin already told me that you didn’t eat your medicine today.” She handed him a pill and a cup of warm water. “Eat some medicine first before eating.”
Zhou Yan subtly refused. “I feel fine, Mother.”
Mother Zhou, hearing the rejection, became somewhat hysterical. “It’s not good to skip your medicine, Xiao Yan.” Her eyes reddened as she looked at Zhou Yan. “Do you still bme me for not giving you a healthy body? I know it’s all Mother’s fault, but Xiao Yan, you can’t keep skipping your medicine!”
Zhou Yan silently looked at the woman who was crying.
Quickly composing herself, Mother Zhou’s face had a smile as if nothing happened. She handed the pill to Zhou Yan who obediently took them.
After seeing him swallow, she handed the bowl to him.
Zhou Yan hadn’t actually swallowed the medicine and was waiting for Mother Zhou to leave before spitting it out. But Mother Zhou still remained in the room and was watching him closely. He could only swallow the pill down before eating.
Once he was done eating, Mother Zhou took the bowl and tucked Zhou Yan into bed. She pressed the light switch and the room was enveloped in darkness.
“Goodnight, Xiao Yan.”
Zhou Yan closed his eyes and started counting as soon as Mother Zhou closed the door. ‘I, 2, 3… 29, 30.’ He stopped counting as a wave of drowsiness suddenly overcame him.
Zhou Yan immediately opened his eyes and tried to get out of bed. However, as soon as his feet touched the ground, he fell. He weakly held onto the bed as he tried standing up again, but ultimately fell again as another wave of dizziness came.
He felt that it was unusual to suddenly become weakened because his body could normally withstand harsh environments. But only two days have passed, and he experienced falling into a deep sleep and a fever.
Zhou Yan had no more time to think as his consciousness was slipping.
Just before completely losing consciousness, he felt himself being picked up and pced back into bed.
