Ash is just a street rat in the floating city of Kardos. She’s nothing special, no one to anyone else, except her brother. He’s only ten, and relies on her to keep him alive, get him the meds he needs to survive the deadly brown lung disease that plagues him. But time is running out, and Ash knows it. In a last ditch effort to save him before he slips away to nothing, she risks it all to try and even have a shot at sneaking into the rebellion she’s already been rejected from three times before. What she doesn’t know however, is there is a good reason why she shouldn’t be there at all. The more she uncovers, the more she realizes that the lies they told cut deep in the cities history, and somehow she’s the center of all of it.
