Molly and I had been traveling for a few hours. Along the way we passed through forest trees of dense green foliage and over moss covered logs in our path.

  I had to fix myself up on the go as Molly kept pulling me onward. Molly anxiously refused to slow down even though multiple times my sensors concluded that we were safe. She kept insisting that her tummy could feel that something was wrong.

  I could not logically understand why she came to that conclusion much the less what her tummy had to do with anything but whatever decreased her distress was fine by me.

  As we walked I decided to try and distract her from her growing anxiety. Thinking fast I asked her if she could tell me what it said on her status sheet. This would serve three purposes.

  1 it would distract her.

  2 it would confirm some things about the system.

  And 3 it would be good reading practice for Molly.

  Despite the current situation I hadn't forgotten the teaching portion of my duties as an intelligence Development Assistant.

  Molly began to read aloud her status, stumbling over the occasional word. It was read out in slow fits and starts but eventually I got the picture. If her status sheet was displayed out it would look something like this.

  Hearing from Molly the details of her status confirmed that Molly had gotten credit for all the rats that had died in the fire and for lack of a better term she had leveled up. Twice in fact from that fight.

  She had two unspent stat points and an ability available for selection. She even had more currency then me because of all the rat deaths. It also confirmed the origin of all the fire she had been producing.

  As we talk I helped her assign her stat points bringing her Body and Mind up by one.

  Her new Aether recovery speed being 1 per 33.4 seconds now.

  Afterwards came Molly's new ability selection. There were many abilities available.

  One that granted telekinesis. One that made you faster. One for more powerful blows. One that even made you stealthy granting invisibility for a period of time. There were many such examples but Molly was however obsessed with one in particular.

  Molly made the selection and soon she was zipping about on a new set of blue butterfly wings that sprouted from her back.

  That's going to make keeping track of her more difficult but now she also has an option to run away in a fight if things get out of hand.

  Also it appears if nothing else she is no longer anxious so the that is good.

  Soon we find a standing log that could act as bench. Good place to stop for lunch. I do my usual purchase of ration and water for Molly and we have a picnic.

  In the middle of our picnic however a notification pops up in both of our system HUDs.

  Quest unlocked. Area Boss discovered.
