Hello everyone!

  It's been a wild 22 months since I started writing Cataclysm Rising, and it feels incredibly strange to have finished the First Draft Manuscript. There are still a legion of edits, corrections, narrative updates, and rewrites that need to occur for it to be a finished novel in every sense of the word, but I'm certainly looking forward to that happening sooner rather than later. As for what comes next, I know that's what you're here for, so I won't blather on too much.

  What Comes Next?

  I have already started work on Cataclysm War, the (not yet final) title for Book 2 of System Incursion, and will be working on that actively for the immediate future (it's a lot of fun writing it, and the benefits of Book 1 hindsight make it very easy, too). That story is being actively posted on Patreon and can be read there with immediacy if you so desire. As for Royal Road, that's a more complex question.

  Will You Keep Posting To Royal Road?

  Short answer? Absolutely. Royal Road is my foundation. I run a writing server called The Order of the Royal Road, and I tend to be a massive proponent of this platform and the opportunities it affords people. Plus, if I don't do my yearly Dopamine Run with a random new Novel, how will I cope?! So yes, in short, I will keep posting to Royal Road.

  When Will You Post Book 2?

  Now that's a bit trickier. The point of never creating a Patreon was that I never wanted to feel 'pressured' to create content. On top of that, I knew that, invariably, creating a Patreon would mean I would need to gate content behind an arbitrary time wall to make the Patreon actually worthwhile for those investing in it. Why bother with Patreon when you can just read on Royal Road instead, after all? So, that's had me pondering what to do, and given my need to fix up Book 1 (substantially in some places) moving forward, that made my choice for me.

  Book 2 Will Start Posting on Royal Road on January 12th, 2026!

  I'm aware this news may be disappointing to many of you, and I can't blame you for being upset, but this gives me time to: clean up book 1, get far ahead of book 2, and solidify my writing speed, given I return to full-time work as of today/tonight. While I'm sure many of you were hoping for my impetuous nature to overrule my better judgment, I'm going to have to ask you to be patient as we head into the New Year. At least it isn't another 10-month Hiatus, though, right?
