Chapter 37: Random Skills

  Dungeons.

Dungeons, Dungeons, and even more Dungeons.

I'm am sick, of doing all these damn Dungeons.

"Break time." I said out loud as I stormed out of the last Dungeon I was willing to do for the day.

I had such a large amount of money now, that I felt comfortable in never stepping foot in a Dungeon ever again. So I made a promise to myself that I was now a retired adventurer, and Gated my way back to 'My Building'.

Plopping out of a white hole in my suite, I walked on over to the couch and threw myself on it and then screamed into a pillow I dragged out of my magical pocket. Jimmy sensed my intentions, and let my face come into contact with the ultimate cushion.

There wasn't any real reason for my screaming. It just felt like the correct thing to do at the time. I had reached a limit for Dungeon delving, and I was bored as well.

So I laid there with my face buried in my awesome purple pillow and thought about what I should do now.

Sally-1 had requested more company funds, so I gave her 30 billion more. The Rob's were really good at their job, and the city had grown considerably since I gave Sally-1 her task. So she obviously needed even more money than last time.

After a quick trip to that place she visited last time, and she was back to designing furniture. Which made me think about the development of my city.

"When did my life go from typical isekai protag to being some city builder sim?" My muffled voice asked the pillow that my face was getting intimate with.

I didn't regret my decision though, as this was probably the best way to make a mark on this perfect universe. One that doesn't need my help even though I swore my very soul to helping it.

I sighed and got off the couch, putting my pillow back in my pocket and walking out into the hall. 'Guess I'll take a walk.'

It had been long enough from the last time I interacted with Sally-1 that the company she commissioned has started teleporting stuff in. I appreciated the real plants lining the hallway, and there was even a little robot that vacuumed, polished, and also took care of the plants. Like a super advanced roomba.

It also kind of looked like one, if a roomba was 3 feet wide and 4 feet tall. While also sporting 8 simple robotic limbs. It looked like a fat spider so I named it as such.

"Good, afternoon, Spider-1." I greeted the bot, pausing to check the time in my HUD.

It beeped and continued it's honorable duty of keeping these empty halls spick and span.

I popped my head into rooms and houses, checking out the furniture inside as I walked. I was extremely impressed with the designs and the placement of the furniture. Sally-1 must be some kind of genius in design, because every single home looked great. More than great, it was perfect.

'I'll have to ask Sally-1 to decorate my suite.' Making a goal for myself, I kept on re-exploring the center building.

I explored some areas I had in the past, but decided that I wanted to explore the new buildings and areas more. So I Gated to another building by looking across the street through the window and choosing a random hallway on a random floor I could see.

Exploring this new area was cool and all, but it was about the same as the first building. It was all super nice and sleek, but you get used to luxury and eventually it just becomes normal.

As I usually do when on my walks, I started thinking about stuff.

'Thinking about it now... I haven't looked at my status in how long?' It had been months by this point, so I opened it to give it a look. Maybe it would inspire me.

"Hmmm still pretty busted." I mumbled to myself, reading and walking at the same time. Trusting solely on my broken luck to avoid obstacles.

My regeneration for Health and Energy has been maxed out, which is good. No idea when that happened. Another change, or changes, are the 3 new Skills Jimmy gives me.

While I had sort of forgotten about the Monster Taming Skill, I didn't even know about Magic Soil nor Tasty Treats. I did know where they came from though.

Feeding Jimmy is something I almost do on auto pilot now. We either hunt monsters for him to consume, or I get out some random ass Items from my pockets. What I ended up giving him turned out to have some really random Skills in them.

Just the names didn't really tell me what they did, so I checked the descriptions.

'Wow! How incredibly useless!' I chuckled to myself.

Though the Skills were pretty shit, it felt nice to have some more mundane Skills instead of just getting absolutely busted Skills. However, the no limit thing kind of bothered me.

"I can understand the no limit for nutrients in soil somewhat, but how is there no limit for flavor?" I rubbed my helmets chin, pondering on what would happen with 15 million points of Energy.

Would it be like one of those cooking anime? Where they climax over how good the food is? I hope not, because that's really fucking lame. I also hope it doesn't flat out kill someone.

Despite the odd nature of the Skills, I found myself smiling. I had something new to do!

Opening the city plan, I compared to what the Rob's had completed to what was planned. I wanted to test the Magic Soil Skill, and while I could do it in one of the parks, I was looking to see if they had completed a farm yet.

The city was supposed to be completely self sufficient, so of course it has several large farms for crops and livestock. They are planned to be built in extremely advanced chambers underground. The kind that can simulate the perfect environment and even rain.

Luckily, there was one farm being noted as complete. Well almost completed. It didn't have any crops to grow, so until it was up and running the Rob's considered it 'in progress'.

Just before I opened a black hole Gate, I decided against it. I could walk there, so I should. It might even be fun trying to navigate my way there.

  And it was.

It reminded me off the days I spent exploring empty maps in video games, like Gmod during my childhood.

It took about an hour of walking and using elevators to find the right floor beneath the surface, and another 30 to 40 minutes to actually find the farm.

The farm itself was a large empty field with a few structures on it. Barns I think. This was one of the livestock areas, as was made obvious with the big ass sign by the door leading into the giant dome interior.

It was pretty bright in the zone, since the ceiling was actually a massive screen using illusion magic to replicate the surface view of the sky. Only difference would be the weather, since the farmer or caretaker could control it.

There was a panel to do so right next to the entrance, and I totally didn't spend 20 minutes fucking with it. Definitely not.

Anyway, I walked through the freshly made wet grass and looked for any small plots of soil made for farming. The plans said that there were a few, in case the farmer or whoever wanted to grow some.

It didn't take long to find a square patch of brown dirt, with no weeds or grass in it. Which was all of the little plots. There must be some form of magic to keep unwanted plants from growing.

I stared at the dirt, and made use of the Skill Magic Soil. Pumping an absolute shit load of Energy into the dirt. Only for nothing to happen.

  I had forgotten the seeds.

Smacking myself on the head, I started looking through the farm for anything. Only to find the barns and house completely empty.

With a sigh, I Gated to a random station I knew. Which turned out to be the one I went to with Xyke and Fraya. Spent an unholy amount of time looking for the right store, bought some random seed packets, and Gated right back to the farm.

That little journey set me back about another 45 minutes. I didn't really mind, so I ripped the little bags open and dumped all the seeds out. Using my Telekinesis to direct them into a perfect grid in the plot.

I didn't know how much Energy I put into the dirt, but as soon as the seeds hit the soil they immediately burst open. Green and yellow stalks reaching up into the sky as they rapidly grew.

I had gotten a type of fruit tree, one that was marketed as the fastest to bare fruit. In 6 months.

My Random Skill had just made them grow into full trees with a bounty of fruit in a matter of minutes.

"Huh... That's certainly helpful. Sometimes." I muttered while reaching out for a fruit.

It looked like a lemon mixed with an apple, but about the size of a large melon. The skin had pores like a lemon, but it was more red and orange in color. Like an apple or mango.

I levitated one of the fruits to me and I had to hold it with 2 hands. It wasn't heavy, and it was actually quite deceptively light, but it was oddly shaped and awkward to hold.

As I held the fruit in my hands, the Tasty Treats Skill told me that it qualified as a target. I supposed it was because I did 'make' it by growing it, so it counted.

Jimmy sensed my intent, and my helmet melted into my suit. Exposing my head to the air in the dome. It smelled quite nice, and it felt fresh.

Using my Telekinesis, I cut the fruit into 8ths by severing the bonds between the molecules in a shape I liked. The odd fruit was now a few oddly shaped cubes.

Taking a bite of one of the baseball sized cubes, the fruit was quite tasty. It wasn't that different from a mango or pineapple, but just different enough to be neither.

The Tasty Treats Skill now told me that the fruit cube I took a bite out of was no longer a valid target. So I finished it off easily enough and used the skill on a different cube.

I pumped roughly 400 points of Energy into the cube, then took a bite. The difference was not that big, but it was certainly noticeable. The flavor wasn't intensified, as it was more so just better defined. For some reason, it was suddenly just better.

"Mawgic 'onsense." I said through a mouthful of cubed fruit.

As an experiment, I put 40,000 points of Energy into a new cube. 100 times stronger than last time.

Taking a bite, it was... Indescribable. It had only taken a single bite and I was lost in it. By the time I realized I had taken said bite, I was licking my fingers. Having no memory of actually eating the cube but craving more.

"Alright, so that's kinda fucked." I said out loud and dropped the fruit onto the ground.

The Skill seemed to work more like a charm spell instead of actually making it taste better. A cheap and horrible way to make your food 'better'. At low Energy levels, it seemed alright.

But there was no limit on how much you can put into a piece of food. 40,000 made my mind go blank for the briefest time, so what would 1 million do? What about 15 million? The thought made me shudder.

'I definitely can't use this on people. But maybe..?' I was reminded about the Monster Taming Skill that had been sitting around for the past several weeks.

What if I fed modified food to monsters? Sure, I could use my limitless Energy to just override any will they have, but could I use food instead? As a more peaceful option?

'Wait, my only two options are completely overriding their will or using charmed food to override their minds. I'm a fucking villain.' Both options I had sounded really evil.

While they were monsters, to this planet they were more like super powerful animals. They hadn't had the chance to hurt anyone, even if they would in a heartbeat.

When I do go to tame some monsters, I'll use food at first. Nothing too crazy, maybe 1,000 points of Energy should be enough to make them happy. I hoped so anyway.

Limiting the use of my Skills to build up trust naturally instead of just bashing their minds with brute force? That sounded like a challenge.

  And challenges are fun.
