stocking stuffer 3: Traveled to the world of Gamemon, what kind of beetle is that!

Soji Tendo got up early today, because today was the day he'd receive his first gamemon!

Like any good reincarnator, he woke up after saving a child resulted in him being crushed by a statue of kamen rider kabuto, a true case of irony.

When he came to, he had been reborn as an infant in the world of gamemon, a world where gamemon and people lived in harmony.

When he first saw the chubby red kabuto beetle that accompanied his mother, he once wanted to ask: was this the world of pokemon?

And in many ways, it was the world of pokemon, but due to international copyright, it wasn't; still, you should live as if it was!

Jokes aside, the world was basically a mix of pokemon and cultivation.

Gamemon were contained in gaim cubes, spectral four-piece cubes that upon being throw, explode, releasing the gamemon inside.

All gamemon have 6 levels, corresponding to the 6 levels of cultivation.

If a gamemon seemingly only has one stage, then it means that the other stages simply haven't been discovered.

Each of these 6 levels are divided into high and low, save the 5th and 6th level, which are divided into low, medium, and perfect.

Once someone reaches the high 3rd level, they become immortal!

So yeah, there was some cultivation, but not much. The way to cultivate is to select a partner gamemon and capture them, establishing the bond, and as your partner grows in level, so do you. One can have multiple gamemon partners, but the only one that really matters to your cultivation is the strongest one.

So how do they grow? Simple, fight! The more energy expended, the stronger you grow. While resources are important, they're not that important. Only by fighting can you break through levels and advance. Of course, alchemy, farming, and other activities that expend energy count too, though not nearly as popular as fighting.

It's also said that beyond the 4th level, to evolve certain circumstances are necessary to be fulfilled, but Soji wasn't worried about that.

So, like pokemon, tournaments are held quite often in every region, and gyms are subsidized by the regional governments to ensure people keep fighting.

You'd think that a constat stream of people reaching high 3rd and becoming immortal would create population issues, but it doesn't.

Because the world is constantly expanding.

This world seems to have no limit.

Every once in a while, new islands were born, each the size of a continent, with only 1 in 20 having civilization, and only 5 in 20 containing a 6th level being.

According to the efforts of professors, it's been discovered that these islands aren't just coming into existence. No, they develop rapidly, with millions of years of evolution compressed into mere minutes.

Because of this, by the time people from the outside world arrive, the newly born civilizations can have centuries if not millennia of history.

So overpopulation isn't a huge worry, especially since those 6th level beings, walking catastrophes, tended to occasionally cause havoc, curbing the population.

Grim, but helpful. But such a thing only happens every few centuries, no different from a natural disaster

Not that he cared. For Soji Tendo, at this moment his concern was receiving his first partner.

Walking into the professors laboratory, there were 3 gaim cubes laid out across the table.

And professor Willow was there, offering a warm smile as he greeted Soji.

Professor Willow was a friendly old man with the longest eyebrows you'd ever seen, even drifting off his face.

It's rumored that he's old friends with champion Hongjun, with some even implying they were roommates. ;)

"You look excited Soji. Are you ready to meet your first partner?" he asked warmly and Soji Tendo nodded, excited to pick his first partner.

"Of course, professor! I'm the first one to arrive today, right?"

Professor Willow nodded, praising Soji earnestly.

"You've always been mature for your age Soji. I have high hopes for you. Lucky for you, this years starters are a good batch."

Soji was relieved to hear this. If there was one issue with the starters issued by the government, it was the fact that there was no standardized starter, but instead, a change in theme depending on the year. In his mother's year, for example, it was beetles, resulting in her receiving the crimson grub, a bug type that became a kabuto baron by the third level, being a metal/bug type.

Pressing a singular button on the desk, the three cubes exploded, giving way to three crows.

"This year, the theme is crows, so the alliance this year is offering the two headed crow, the cindercrow and the thundersprite, which happens to be crow in form." he said, indicating to the group of crows.

Indeed, the two headed crow was aptly named, being a two headed crow, with each of the heads being rather curious, looking about the room.

The cindercrow, while similar to a normal crow in many ways, the wings were clearly different, the edges of the wings being lined with fire, though in its neutral state it was more like cinders, hence the name. It had a rather aloof personality, clearly ignoring the two people in the room.

the thunder sprite, was more elemental spirit than bird, being composed of pure electricity, though noticeably smaller and more like a magpie in size. It was definitely bird shaped though, and quite cocky, clearly staring down its two compatriots.

"Take your time of course. The first bond is always the most important. I remember when I made my first bond, me and old friend Hongjun-"

As professor Willow continued on, Soji decided to activate his system.

  Yes, he had a system.

While not outrageous, his system was well suited to this world.

The evolutionary system allowed him to see the final stage of any creature, as well as their stats, and evolutionary conditions, which are hard to find after the fourth level. After the fourth level, the number of people who manage to get this far are 5 percent of the population, and accordingly, the method of advancement is hard to find, each gamemon with its own unique method.

And with some families hording it, it becomes harder.

So naturally, a system with this benefit, and even offering the materials for evolutions, is an absolute blessing.

Soji had to admit he was amazed. To say that this year was a good batch was not a lie.

Odin, as champion of the Yggdrasill region, is famous for his gamemon, Huginn and Muninn, a beast shrowded in mystery, said to hear everything across the 9 continents is well known for its reconnaissance abilities. While not the strongest amongst the 6th realm beings, thanks to Odin's 6th level wolf Fenrir, he has no fear of lacking firepower.

The thunderbird is actually a benevolent wild 6th level being that wanders the region corresponding to American myth, the spirit region, considered a guardian deity by many, and famous for its terrifying area of attack in its ability to conjure storms.

It's well documented that someone once offended it, resulting it in shrouding the region in a storm for days without the interference of the local champion. Terrifying.

The golden crow is also terrifyingly strong, though virtually nonexistent in the continent. The only reason he knew it was strong was because he was from Earth and was aware of its abilities as a walking sun. Unfortunately, it comes with the significant side effect of being a 24/7 walking target.

They do have a bad rate of being shot 9 more times than other species.

So at this moment Soji was torn.

They were all good. But they also had the significant

" I do have one more here actually. I recently went to go explore the newly born region called The Land Of Light and Darkness and we found quite a few interesting little fellows.

I sent the rest of them to a few research facilities but did keep this stage one beetle. Perhaps you'd be interested?"

Hearing this, Soji Tendo nodded in curiosity.

Afterall, Ash received the extra fourth starter, and look how lucky he got!

If nothing else, Soji Tendo had heard a lot of interesting things about the land of light and darkness, which is said to be inhabited by a gamemon civilization, headed by two 6th level beings, the ark of light and king of light.

So he'd get to see something your average 15 year old didn't get to see.

Pulling a fourth gaim cube out of his pocket, its explosion revealed a rather unique stag beetle, its underbelly a plain white, and its carapace black.

What truly made it unique was its eyes, which had been replaced by a yellow flashing membrane of sorts.

It's legs, instead of being thin, could be said to be quite thick for a beetle, looking almost rubbery in nature.

"We're planning on calling this creature kugaton, Why don't you take a look and see if this creature is suitable for you?"

At first glance the creature was unique looking, but it didn't seem to have any particularly special abilities.

Still, not wanting to miss out on a deal, Soji decided to appraise it.

  [Kugaton]

  [Early level 1 insect beast]

  [types: Bug]

[special ability: Devouring of the light: Consumes the emotions of those defeated in order to grow and is immune to all special attacks.]

[moves: shock, protect, light barrier, teleport, bulk up, thunderbolt, zap]

[Final form: Hyperzetton, god of destruction]

  [Final type: electric, bug]

"This one professor. I want this one."

  Soji said immediately.

Frankly, he wasn't sure if this one would be stronger than the other three, but at the very least, he was more familiar with this one.

And he wasn't that surprised to see it.

His mom's kabuto baron's final form was the god of speed, kabuto.

Isn't that clearly just kamen rider kabuto?

Given that the new region is called the land of light and darkness, Soji Tendo could only assume that the newest region is essentially just a reflection of the ultra universe.

Of course, that wasn't the only reason he chose it.

While Huginn and Muninn would be a great reconnaissance unit, it's flaw lies in that. Frankly, it makes for a poor first Gamemon, unless he plans to support others as an adventurer, which isn't what he wants.

The golden crow was definitely a good path, but as we all know, the golden crow is weak to projectiles, considering 9 of them took an arrow to the knee.

With all these considerations, it seemed that kugaton, who already had energy negation to be a good first partner.

The zetton lineage as a whole have never been weak and are well known high special attackers.

"Are you sure? I understand the desire to try the unknown, but you should be aware Soji that the unknown has as many negatives as it does benefits. We don't know much about this beast currently. And you should be aware of the block you'll face at the end of the fourth level" The professor warned, clearly concerned the boy would make a wrong choice, but Soji wasn't worried. After all, zetton was a clear fighter and a great start.

As for being unaware of the requirements for the next evolution, that wasn't a problem thanks to the system.

The professor seemed to pause for a moment, quietly appraising the boy.

"Well, if you're going to insist I suppose, consider kugaton an extra gift. How about you pick another one?" he finally said, and at this Soji did not hesitate.

"I'll take the two headed crow then!"

Since he had already got a frontline damager, why not take the reconnaissance as well?

Seeing the child's shameless statement, professor Willow laughed as he handed him the two headed bird and spoke.

"Well then, I wish you a bizarre and wonderful journey then Soji."

As professor Willow waived the child off, a ripple appeared beside him as the champion Honjun showed up, carefully watching Soji leave.

"I'm surprised you let him leave with two Yangmei."

"Oh, so the champion does have time to visit his old friends." Yangmei snorted, slightly cold with his old friend.

Hearing this, Hongjun chuckled. "Is this about last year?"

"You left me and the others with Rahu. You know him and his big mouth. With the amount he mouths, he might just kill all of us one day." Yangmei complained, before becoming more serious.

"That child's destiny is rather great, so I decided to invest a little more."

"Indeed, even I can't read it." Hongjun admitted, watching this little friend leave, wondering what kind of waves he could make.

And how to get him to join the league and share his burden.

If he takes too long, then his old friend Houtu might beat him to it.

It would be even worse if foreign groups beat him to this fresh new talent.

Thinking this, and realizing his second gamemon belonged to Odin, that shrewd old bat, he rushed home, planning to push his jade disk tortoise to mingle more.

"Man, I kind of wanted to take another companion, but I felt that would be a bit too shameless" Soji complained, carrying Kugaton in his arms.

Dodo, as he was calling the two headed crow, was on his shoulder, alternating between the two furiously, as if the left and right brains were arguing which to sit on.

Because of this, it was a bit airheaded, Soji noted.

Kugaton on the other hand, seemed very intelligent, even turning around in response to his partner's statement, its deadpan stare clearly exasperated.

Soji felt embarrassed, realizing how shameless he sounded, yet he felt helpless.

Kugaton could be high damage and vanguard, but it'd be easier to have an extra double role to help share the damage

Even with its projectile weakness, a golden crow would still have been wonderful help.

Thinking this, Soji decided to go take his chances in the fields near his town.

As for gaimcubes, no worry; his mother is a cop so their family had plenty of confiscated gaimcubes, taken from traffickers and such.

With his system, he'd already picked out a few who he thought would be quite useful.

One of which, was the spark doll series.

Soji had noticed that among certain species, despite being of the same race, the 6th level form could vary.

The armor grub, for example, has many varieties. While his mother had gotten exceptionally lucky and received one with god of speed kabuto, one of her classmates had received one that became night kick hopper

Which naturally resulted in different uses, though the conditions for evolution were all surprisingly the same.

The spark doll is one of the most common, seemingly born from abandoned toys who gain sentience.

Because of this, there was a huge variety, with different uses in battle. A great variety.

So Soji spent the next few hours sending kugaton into battle, with dodo occasionally swooping in.

There were many toys wandering the land, with the occasional-not toy critter wandering around.

Soji suspected that this was actually an intentional waste fill where they dump the toys to encourage their appearance.

Amongst them however, one did truly stand out.

  [Brave spark doll]

  [Early class 1 possessed object]

  [type:ghost]

[special ability: gigantization: allows the doll to grow ten times its height]

[Final form: Jet Jaguar: hook form]

  [type: metal/ psychic]

Seeing this, Soji's eyes lit up.

One of the reason's he'd searched amongst the spark dolls so much was that he had hoped to find a kaiju or an ultraman gamemon. Afterall, a land of light exists so these sparkdolls should have some connection right?

Unfortunately, he hadn't had any luck so far.

But in a stroke of luck, jet jaguar!

While jet jaguar is rather unassuming at first glance, this is jet jaguar, who has managed to fight godzilla on multiple instances!

Like, two movies, one show and a comic or two.

What he most valued was its gigantization ability, because it made the brave spark doll an easy vanguard, especially since its a ghost time, even harder to kill.

  "Kugaton, let's go!"

  Kugaton landed, ready to fight.

Instead of running, the brave spark doll began charging forward, but despite its diminutive size, he didn't underestimate it.

The battle was rather short, since they were ultimately class one beasts, but Soji found this brave very satisfying.

Relentless in its movement and continuously fighting despite having clearly seen that its efforts failed.

Whether brave or reckless, Soji still threw three gaimcubes at it before the cube finally clicked.

He'd caught himself a brave spark doll

The knight of light Noah continuing to watch the child, couldn't help but ask.

Are you not worried about this child interfering in your affairs Dijun?

In contrast to the stern knight of light, the appearance of the demon emperor, while innately majestic, was currently dressed in a tanktop and sweats, spread out over his couch.

Yet it could not hide his regal nature, his innate arrogance.

"Why would I worry about that? Noah, he might've been human once upon a time, but now he's "human"" he said, wiggling his eyebrows suggestively.

As one of humanities greatest enemies in the distant past, Dijun was aware of humanities potential, and the truth.

No matter the universe, the form of man would appear.

Because they were the creator God's most favorite children.

Even now, as others approached his level, creating their own multiverse, they still found it impossible to compare.

Him, a mere karami, only at the level of galaxy master, half a step to universe creation, couldn't even dream of it.

Since he couldn't stop it, he induced it.

Humans in this world were themselves, evolved from gamemon.

  The gamemon, his people.

No matter how strong they got, humanity in this galaxy would benefit him, the creator of gamemon!

On the contrary, he hoped this child would go further, surpass the others, and step into the unprecedented level 7!

Noah made no comment, recognizing he was certainly no different, making the people in his world intertwined with light and darkness.

So he continued with other subjects.

I saw you included the others.

"It made things easier. Besides, I thought it was fun to recreate old faces."

Perhaps, but I doubt they will all take kindly to it.

"To what? Hongjun won't pursue me on this, I made Odin quite wise, Zeus gets to keep his harem of women, you got your land of light, I'm sure Oma zio would be thrilled to see rider belts spread further, Ra's busy-"

Hongjun won't bother and Odin won't care too much you made Loki his father, but Zeus will probably be offended by the fact you gave him the class 6 gamemon "sea king" He said, giving Dijun a meaningful look.

  {A.N., sea king is chinese slang for womanizer, so dijun has essentially just given him a big ol womanizer monster}

"Oh it'll be fine. Zeus knows how to take a joke. And you said it yourself Odin won't make a mess and Hongjun won't care.

  Maybe not alone but-

  DIJUN!

  DIJUN!

DIJUN! IF YOU COME OUT NOW, I'LL ONLY BEAT YOU FOR A MILLENIA!

That last one was Odin, being the most kind and reasonable.

Hearing this, under Noah's "I told you so" gaze, Dijun could only hopelessly run to avoid the fate of being beaten like a dog.
