Hilda immediately picks Shila back up, throwing her at the fake Jamine as she and Jamine start running at the fake Jamine, giving the fakes no time to properly react.
“Kill that irritant!”
“Mom, I'm not an irritant!”
Hilda starts attacking the fake Jamine, getting a few hits in. “I know, I was talking about the fa—” Hilda gets sent away by her fake self who despite trying to protect fake Jamine, was too late since fake Jamine was already extremely hurt due to Hilda using a lot of sword qi and mana at once.
“Hurry and kill it!”
“Mom, I'm not an ‘it’ either!”
“Jamine, I don't mean you! I mean the—” Hilda gets attacked by her fake again who took the opportunity due to her getting distracted.
“Ok, Jamine. You’re being an irritant right now, keep quiet until after the fight Is over.”
“Jamine is not an irritant!” She says, refering to herself in third person.
“Wha…” Hilda gets confused due to Jamine's suddenly strange way of referring to herself, her fake taking the opportunity to attack as Hilda blocks it this time. “You're so damn dead.”
“Shila, Jamine, attack the fake Shila and finish off Jamine!” Hilda communicates to them through her head as they follow her instructions, Hilda stopping the fake from helping.
“Hurry! Fake here has got a lot more mana and sword qi than I do!” Hilda shouts, annoying Shila.
“Who the hell asked you to use so much on fake Jamine just now?!”
“My personal judgement.”
Shila sighs, finishing off fake her and going to finish fake Jamine before they all turn their attention to fake Hilda.
“Well, this should be easy.” Hilda says she fake Hilda starts pulling something out her inventory.
“What the hell… she has an inventory?” Hilda watches curiously as she pulls out the same orb she has.
“Are you kidding?!”
“Don't worry, it won't be as good. Though, we're probably still screwed if fake you uses the full strength of the fake orb.
“Great, how irritating. Whatever, it's been quite a while since I've used the survivor achievement anyways. This'll probably hurt though.”
Hilda watches as her fake self starts using the orb, her sword cracking.
“Hey, just realized she doesn't have the trail, guess it really is part of my sou—”
Hilda gets killed in a second, her clone. Suffering massive damage as Hilda is left alive due to her survivor trait.
A case of content theft: this narrative is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation.
“Damn you two, you actually used me as a meat shield…”
“Hey, better you than us right?”
“Just go finish fake me off… she probably has the survivor trait too.”
“Sure.”
Shila and Jamine walk up to fake Hilda, beating her up as Shila takes satisfaction from doing so and Jamine not caring since it's not the real Hilda.
After a while, Shila sends them to the 28th floor as fake Hilda dies.
“What a shitty level.” Hilda says, lying on the ground due to her injuries.
“Don't worry Hilda, come here. Floor 28 is a relatively safe floor, at least for the start.”
“Huh?” Hilda sits up, finding herself in a small lush cave kept dimly lit with magic, a fountain in the center as she goes and drinks from it due to being a cheapskate, unwilling to buy her own water when there is some free water in front of her.
“Hilda… you should probably check if there is poison or be more careful next time before drinking out of a random fountain.” Shila says, getting annoyed as Hilda mostly ignores her, even using the water to clean her face.
“Why should I? You said it's safe.”
“I said relatively safe, there's a difference!”
“Fine, fine, is the water poisonous?”
“No but—”
“Then I see no problem.” Hilda shrugs, drinking more water.
Hilda keeps drinking as the her mouth is suddenly filled with a sour taste, causing her to spit it all out.
“Ewwww!” Hilda tries to remove the taste by chugging down water she bought from the store as Shila looks at her while crossing her arms.
“As I was saying. The guide purposefully made it so each fountain changes a property each time. Could be taste, temperature, acidity and a couple more.”
“A couple more?” Hilda rubs her tongue with the back of her hand, still trying to get rid of the taste.
“It could turn into piss.”
“What the actual hell is wrong with that guy?”
“Well, he did make it so it's normal… most of the time, but you just got really really unlucky.”
“Yea, clearly.” Hilda drinks a bit more water, throwing the empty bottle iinto the fountain as Jamine kicks her leg.
“What was that for?!”
“Mom littering! Throw properly!”
“Yea Hilda, such a bad example!” Shila adds on for the sake of annoying Hilda as she reluctantly reaches out to grab the bottle, watching as it dissolves into water in front of her eyes.
“Guess it turned acidic.” Shila says as Jamine curiously goes up to the water, drinking it.
“Tasty!”
Hilda looks over at Shila confused.
“What? Acidic stuff adds to the acidity in her body even though it's only a temporary increase but it still feels nice for her unless the difference is too much then it'll taste like crap.”
Hilda picks Jamine up, stopping her drinking as she gets annoyed.
“Heyyy!! I was drinking that!” Shila complains, trying to teach out to the fountain.
“Didn't you hear what your sis said? It could turn into piss.”
“Yea but, it's tasty right now!!”
“How about a snack instead?”
“Fine, gimme!”
Hilda passes Jamine a snack as she finally stops reaching out to the fountain, concentrating on the snack.
“Here.” Hilda passes some weird sweets to Jamine who eats it without questioning it.
“See Shila? She eats whatever is given to her without questioning it. It's not me who's weird.”
“A person who lacks organs and is acidic themselves can't get poisoned!” Shila shouts, crossing her arms as the area suddenly rumbles.
“Woah Shila, calm down. You just made the place shake.”
“Shut it, the fountain is a safe zone but go too far out and there's massive centipedes in the walls along with all kinds of giant bugs.”
“Ew… I hate bugs. Where are they though?”
“There's tunnels around, you just have to look carefully since they're covered by plants. Oh and the walls too.”
“Ok… so, let's go to the 29th floor already.”
“Can't.”
“What do you mean? Isn't the 28th floor a safe floor? Shouldn't it be over?”
“Are you stupid? Why would here be a safe floor when the 10th floor exists?”
“Damn… I really don't want to deal with insects. Can't we do this later?”
“Well… you can't leave this floor until you beat it. Hence the reason for the fountains and rest around.”
The rumbling gets stronger as a sudden worm jumps out out the wall at them as Hilda pulls out her sword, prepared to fight as the worm suddenly gets bounced back into the wall as an invisible barrier appears around the fountain before disappearing again.
The worm tries to attack a couple of times before giving up, crawling back into the walls, causing another tunnel to be made.
“Oh. I really don't want to deal with this.”
