“Hilda.” Shila walks back to Jamine.
“What?
“First, 9400 days is short, not up for discussion. Secondly, we can go to the 25th floor since the system just fixed the rest of itself completely.”
“Nice, let's go, bring Jamine along.”
“Sure.”
Hilda walks over to Jamine, pulling her up to her feet.
“Hmph.”
“Stop pouting, let's go to the next floor.” Hilda starts pulling Jamine.
“Don't wanna!” Jamine pulls her arms away crossing her arms, making Hilda sigh as she kneels down in front of Jamine.
“You do know that guy hurt your sis, so why do you still wanna have fun with him?” Hilda asks, looking at Jamine.
“uhhh…” Jamine’s voice trails off, lost for words..
“And that guy is a bad guy too.”
“Well… maybe?” Jamine starts nodding slowly.
“So, you should hate him too. Let's go to the next floor.”
“Ok…” Jamine reluctantly agrees as Hilda pulls her arms to Jamine who teleports them to the 25th floor.
Ignoring the notification, Hilda looks around at the busy market around her, holding a very young Lela's hand as she lets go.
“Why is she always with me?” Hilda turns to look at Shila.
“Because… these are based on your memories. Most of your memories are with your sister…” Shila points out.
“Oh. She isn't the fakey again right?”
“Yep, the tower wouldn't make it that obvious.”
“Pull the notification up.” Hilda crosses her arms, waiting for the screen to appear.
“Nah, don't wanna.”
“And why is that?”
“You closed it, you deal with it.”
Hilda sighs, manually opening the notification and catching a glimpse of Shila's grin in the corner.
Notification.
Identify or communicate to the doppelganger.
No attacking intentionally. Your memories can not harm you.
“What a weird requirement, should be easy enough.” Hilda says, looking around at the busy market. “... Nevermind, I take what I just said back.”
A case of content theft: this narrative is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation.
Hilda starts talking to everyone, taking forever due to Shila and Jamine not being able to help, pulling the young and confused Lela along.
“Hilda, why are you pulling her around?”
“Well, even if she's not the doppelganger fake, she's still my sister even though she's still a fake.” Hilda points out, continuing to talk to people.
“Didn't you get pissed the first time you saw a fake her?”
“Well yea, but right now the current situation in I'm is previously lost in a market and one before was a shitty family situation. The one I got pissed at was the one at school since seeing a fake with my sister's face being happy just pissed me off for some reason.”
“... You're a weird person.”
“Rude.” Hilda keeps talking to the people as she gives up, walking away.
“Hilda, where are you going? You gotta complete this!” Shila shouts out after Hilda.
“Hey, talking can be done by just saying something and getting a reply right?”
“A non aggressive friendly one, yes.” Shila confirms.
“Ok.”
Hilda looks around, running around and finding microphones, connected to large speakers to steal along with some fireworks, running to an open area without a ceiling as she taps the microphone.
“Test, test.” She tries as her voice rings out loudly from the speakers, attracting everybody's attention.
As she sees this, she smirks, setting a firework off, surprising everybody.
“I have no clue why anybody was selling fireworks but whatever.” She thinks as she carries Lela, annoying Jamine.
“I'll carry you later Jamine.” Hilda says, facing away from the microphone.
“You better!”
Hilda faces the microphone again, tapping it once more.
“Everybody! Who wants to see more fireworks!” She lights up more, hearing some claps as some children start asking their parents to stop moving and to carry them so they can watch.
Hilda keeps lighting more fireworks slowly, making sure to get the crowd to start responding.
“Hilda, you do realize the doppelganger could just y'know… shut up?”
“Yep, so I'll just kill whoever is ignoring me afterwards.”
“... It said no attacking intentionally.”
“Right… I'll just go with the flow.” Hilda says to Shila, making sure to light more fireworks.
Hilda keeps lighting more fireworks, slowly running out as she uses mana to amplify her hearing and sight to check those who are completely ignoring her, spotting 3 people.
“So… I see 3 potential people. I guess I gotta specifically identify them huh?”
“Yep.” Shila answers.
Hilda quickly lights up the rest of the fireworks, running to the potential fakes one by one.
“Let's start with… the old man.” Hilda runs to the old man, trying to talk to him as she gets ignored, annoying her.
“Hey, what if you did the attacking?”
“That would obviously not work!”
“Fine, fine.”
Hilda stands in front of the old man as he finally acknowledges her, making some signs.
“What the hell is he doing? Is he throwing gang signs around?”
“Have you considered the fact that he's potentially deaf?”
“But you are the one who said they could fake it.”
“Hence the ‘potentially’ also, sign language is communication, so he isn't it.”
“You know sign language?”
“You saw it before, though it was just a weird guy who was lost but regardless, I just read that part of your memory, and it seems similar enough so I assume he's not faking.”
“Wow, I guess we can go to the next person? You remember what they look like?”
“Yep.”
“Alright, lead the way.” Hilda says, making Shila sighs as they follow her.
“Where are we going?” Lela tugs Hilda's sleeves, causing her to look down. “Uh… finding our way out?”
“Ok…” Lela starts yawning as Hilda puts her into a box that was used to contain fireworks.
“Seriously Hilda?”
“What? She's asleep now and will probably remain so till the level is over.”
“...”
“Well? Let's get going.” Hilda starts pushing Shila who gets annoyed but still continues, eventually reaching a middle age man who Hilda immediately walks in front of.
“Little girl, get out of the way, can't you see that people are busy here?” He starts scolding Hilda as she moves out of the way.
“I guess not him either.” Shila says
“Yep, so it's the… who again?”
“Little boy.”
“Oh, why the hell have the doppelgangers all been minors?”
“Who am I supposed to ask if you ask me?” Shila points in the way of the doppelganger who Hilda notices immediately, causing the level to end,
“Well, that was anticlimactic. I though I would have needed to give chase or something.”
“Well, it just said that simply locating them and knowing their doppelganger is sufficient.”
“Nice?”
“Let's go to the 26th floor?” Shila asks as Hilda nods.
“Sure.”
